Ahhh - so that is where that quote comes from about the public towel. A guy I know quoted that at me as if it were his own saying and I thought he had dreamed that little "nugget of joy" up himself.

Have others given up trying to communicate their feelings?
by Celtic ini don't think i'll be listened to any more, my story is not worth telling, it is too complex, it causes me too much sadness to try to relate it, too much shame and too much internal pain.
am i the only one that feels that they have given up trying to communicate their feelings here anymore?
like my personality is a sham, i do my best to cope, to be happy, to be this cantankerous old sod that tries to make out to everyone i'm doing well, but ..... anyone?

Elder visit after being DF'd
by Evesapple inhas anyone ever been re-visited by the elders after being df'd or da'd for some time?
i was once in arizona about 5 years ago, fortunately i was not home, my roomate was, they asked if i was home and she said 'no', they said they were from the local congregation of jehovah's witnesses and would like to invite me back, they also asked her if she was aware that i was once associated with the witnesses and she said, 'yes, i'm very aware'....they then asked when would be a good time to get me home, she was very vague and said "i don't know really, she's training for a marathon and is very busy with school, i never really know when she's home"....they never came back, i think they got the hint, or were just too lazy to try again.
i'm sure my mother had something to do with it....her last hope i guess.

Indeed - neglect occurs. Somebody I know has been out for 3 years now and is looking to return, problem being, this person has only had one brief visit, and this is coming from a person who is genuinely interested and does not doubt the society as being God's only channel.

I showed her about the society's UN involvement, but thought "they must have had a good reason".
That is the standard response. I have a kind of friend (who seems to be growing distant - wonder why ) who will not even take the time to read any literature that is seen to attack the ever so precious WTBS.

"Jehovah in the New Testament"
by OHappyDay insincere pardons if this is posted here elsewhere and previously.. i received a copy of "jehovah in the new testament" from www.tetragrammaton.org.. the booklet's argument is that whereas "yahweh" or "jehovah" belongs in the old testament, because it is clearly there in the ancient texts, it does not belong in the new testament.. because there is not one ancient greek new testament manuscript that has "jehovah" in the text, only "lord.".
this is so obvious and irrefutable that it is silly for the new world translation to continue on with this theological mistake.
besides, in many passages where "jehovah" appears in the nwt new testament, it is simply jarring, out of place, and/or misleading.. actually, use of "jehovah" in the new testament distorts the meaning of the words of the apostles, and confuses the fact that "men ought to honor the son as they do the father.

The very spirit and emphasis of the New Testament writings honour Jesus Christ above any other name. That simple fact only really struck home about 6 months ago fully. I had suspected, but chose to ignore, due to my former indoctrination by the WTBS.
Crazy eh
Well, when I speak to two friends who support the society still, they both talk 80% of the time about Jehovah and maybe 20% of the time about Jesus. How ungrateful by not refering to God's gift to men a little more eh?
They argue that Jesus always honoured God in speech. Well that may be so in places, but mans obligation as a Christian is to honour Jesus before God. Well, that's the way I read it.
